This is my first time trying this tiny hole in the wall Dominican spot in Queens Village. It's takeout only with half the store front taken over by their juice/smoothie station. I went on a weekday afternoon and the place easily felt packed with only 5 patrons inside. You go up to the buffet station and order and pay in the way out. We got their roast chicken (best thing we ordered), stewed chicken, fried fish (was a bit dry) and bacalao. Each of the protein came with rice (white, yellow, beans and rice) and we added on plantains, yucca and corn. If you go during lunch you get an option to add on drink or salad - they were completely out of salad when we went. The food was decent for the price, which ranges from $10-15.
The restaurant is VERY clean and the ingredients used to make the food was fresh. I was greeted very professionally and they made me feel like I had been there before. I would highly recommend this restaurant and if I had time would have gone back the next evening for dinner.
Food was good and service was great. Will definitely go back again to try the empanadas.
8/17/24. Tiny hole in the wall take out place. Ordered a beef empanada and a relleno (meat stuffed mashed potato ball). Both could have used more meat. The meal of pernil and chicken stew came with rice, beans and sweet plantains (also included is a soda or tiny side salad). The meats were juicy, prices are fair and the entree is plentiful. Garlic sauce is tasty also. Now, to my delight, there was a super friendly young man who took my order. This is a HUGE contrast to my previous visits. The usual women behind the counter are often rude. I sure hope to see this young man when I return.
I'm still going to give this place a 5 star rating because of the restaurants consistency over the past several years. However, my last order they fell short of my expectations. The pernil (roast pork dish) tasted burnt and charred. Don't remember ever having this problem. Overall, the meal from rice & beans is satisfying. Go support your local businesses! :)
